Michigan Black Birthworker Directory
Domonique & Sharde of North Star Birthing Services had a vision that was simple, but powerful: create a living, ever-growing directory of Black Perinatal Professionals across Michigan to connect families with birthworkers who see them, hear them, and honor their full humanity. Over our 6-week custom website design project, I brought that vision to life.
After creating initial concepts in Figma for their review, I built the site in Squarespace with a clean, personality-filled design that’s easy to navigate. The directory itself runs through the Community Box plugin, offering a sleek, searchable interface. I populated it with all current birthworkers and added multi-language translation (English, Spanish, and French) so the site can serve more families across the state.
The result is a professional yet warm digital hub that reflects the heart of the community it represents.
